Covid-19 - Business Support Grant

The data published show Covid-19 business support grants paid to eligible businesses and charities by Leicester City Council.

In response to Covid-19 the government announced grant support for businesses and charities, to be paid by councils.  This support was in the form of the Small Business Grant Fund (SBGF) and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund (RHLGF).  Grants were fixed at £10,000 or £25,000 dependent upon rateable value of business premises and the nature of the business.

An additional Discretionary Grants Fund supported certain small and micro businesses and charities who were not eligible for the SBGF or RHLGF.  Grants could be any amount up to £10,000, or a fixed £25,000.

As Leicester went into a local lockdown in June/July, further support was made available by the government in the form of the Leicester Local Lockdown Grant for businesses legally required to close.  Grants were a fixed £1,402, £3,506 or £5,611, depending on the rateable value of business premises.  These grants were doubled for businesses still required to be closed on 1 September 2020.

In line with transparency and data protection rules, payments to individuals/sole traders to their personal bank account are redacted.
